This is my 6th year of working on the Parade The Circle art event with The Beck Center for the Arts. This year our entry was based on the art of Paul Klee. The following images show some of the pieces that I made, designed or worked on along with the Paul Klee art that inspired them!
'Painted Klee Faces' by Darrelle Centuori and Susan Gallagher (finial by Susan) that we made into a mini parade float on wheels:
German Head with a Mustache by Paul Klee the inspiration for the sides of the rondels that I painted.
Golden Fish by Paul Klee was the inspiration for the finial on the rondel.
Here's my interpretation of Klee's beautiful and enigmatic painting, 'Puppet Theater'. I made a modern art doll and marionette puppet to highlight some of the painting details that I found so interesting:
This giant puppet, worn by my husband, was after one of Klee's little hand puppets: "Ghost of a Scarecrow". Below is an image of the original.
My son, Dante, put a lot of work into helping make his costume inspired by Paul Klee's 'Death and Fire' painting. He was interested in the darkly cool subject matter and the stick man imagery that seemed like a match for somebody on stilts.
This is Mia wearing her costume...
created after Klee's 'Cat and Bird'
We certainly gained a real appreciation for the fabulous art of Paul Klee.
The man himself, Paul Klee ( 1897 - 1940 ).
